Places worth slowing down for
Dhemaji isn't a district of big tourist crowds — it's one of quiet rivers, old temple ruins and forest sanctuaries. This list is maintained from the admin dashboard and will keep growing.

Ghuguha Dol
A site traditionally associated with the birth of Bamuni Konwar, son of the Ahom king Tyao Khamti, and built in memory of his mother, Ghuguhi.

Habung
Believed to be the place where Ahom king Sukaphaa first set up his capital around 1240 AD, before recurring floods forced the capital to be moved elsewhere.

Bogibeel Bridge
A combined rail-and-road bridge across the Brahmaputra connecting the Dhemaji side of the river to Dibrugarh, considerably shortening travel time to Upper Assam.

Maa Manipuri Than
A temple established by Ahom king Gourinath Singha, historically linked to the resettlement of the Manipuri community after the Mua-Mariah uprising.

Gerukamukh
The point where the Subansiri, the largest tributary of the Brahmaputra, comes down from the hills into the plains. A popular winter picnic and angling spot, and the site of the Subansiri Lower Hydro Electric Project.

Malinithan
Ancient temple ruins at the foot of the Siang hills near the Assam–Arunachal border, considered an important archaeological and religious site for the region.

Poba Reserve Forest
A reserved forest patch near Jonai on the Assam–Arunachal border, part of the district's scattered foothill forest cover of mixed and deciduous trees.

Bordoibam–Bilmukh Bird Sanctuary
A wetland sanctuary shared with Lakhimpur district, declared in 1996, spread over roughly 11.25 sq km and known as a breeding ground for the Lesser Whistling Teal and other waterbirds.

Dhemaji and Murkong Selek stations connect through Rangiya Junction to major Indian cities.

NH52 runs through the district; the Bogibeel bridge has cut travel time to Dibrugarh significantly.

Seasonal ferry services connect Dhemaji-side ghats to Dibrugarh across the Brahmaputra.
